Language and crude humor are all a part of the style for RT’s writing and you’re either a fan or your not, but even if you’re not I don’t think it’s a stretch to say hearing Michael “Rage Quit” Jones’ voice come out of the adorable face of what looks to be a twelve-year-old is off putting and unexpected enough to cause a genuine laugh. But while it’s definitely something that looks like a current children’s cartoon, its writing is anything but. The style of CAMP CAMP is reminiscent of the quality of animation we’ve been experiencing in the current renaissance of animation found on Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon – crisp and identifiable character designs, bright and colorful environments. And as a general fan of animation, I always love supporting a small studio’s efforts to try new things. I’m a huge supporter of the independent production company for a few years lately and have been charmed and impressed by the ramp up they have done in just the last few years, particularly with their completely original content. I want to make a note that I had every intention of finishing Netflix’s Voltron: Legendary Defender and include it on this roundup, but I’m only on episode 6 as of this posting and would like to complete the season before writing up my thoughts on the show.
Alright, so while Wednesday Roundups are going to be all about comics of the week, Monday Roundups are going to be basically “Media Mondays” and will be the new shows/movies that I watch throughout the week.
